Such a Beauty
Eka has created so many beautiful works of art that it is not easy to choose one (so I bought multiple pieces - LOL). Out of all the masks she creates I choose this one because of the Optimist message which came through to me and the balance and beauty Eka created. I highly recommend her work - I believe you will love it as much as I do.
I enjoy this carefully carved wooden mask. The wood is so smooth and the details are beautiful. The expression on the maidens face is special. I believe it was made with love!
I have 3 of these wonderful masks
The masks by Eka are striking, lovely and make a wonderful addition to my house. I had one that brought me much pleasure and many compliments. Then a friend bought another by the same artist as a gift and I got another to make a small grouping. Each is a slightly different color of wood and size but equally wonderful. I couldnt be more pleased. The quality is very high and the collection is really special.

African Wood Mask, "Protect the Forest"
This long, narrow face could appear in the trunk of a tree, crowned by slender branches. Carved by hand from seasoned African African rubberwood, it is the expert handiwork of Abdul Aziz Mohamadu. "This mask is used by the Gonja people of Northern Ghana," he explains. "It is used to protect their forest, which they believe is the resting place of their ancestors." Named – a Gonja word that means "protect the jungle," it receives its white coloration from applications of clay.
Colorful Handcrafted Bird African Mask, "Akan Anoma"$129.95
With the privilege of experience, Ghanaian artisan Awudu Saaed creates the original design of this spectacular mask. He incorporates the artistic style of the Akan people as he carves the sese wood mask by hand with an (bird) on the forehead. Saaed uses colorful glass beads to decorate the mask's face as well as embossed brass on the eyelids and around the face.
Saaed works with available brass plates to make a one of a kind version of his original design.
Fair Trade Wood Bird Mask, "Quest of the Ibis"$67.99
With wings outstretched protectively, a questing ibis rests its beak on a woman's forehead. Hibiscus wood reveals the smooth features of a lovely girl. Bali's Eka presents the sweet image carved from hibiscus wood. This wood varies widely in its tones and patterns, thus each mask is an absolutely unique work of art.
Hand Carved Janger Dancer Wood Wall Mask, "Janger Dancer"$199
This exquisite traditional sculpture is hand carved in crocodile wood by Bali's Nyoman Subrata. Unlike most traditional Balinese dances, the Janger dance allows both men and women to dance together. During the dance, twelve men move aggressively while twelve women sing and sway from side to side.
