Hand Carved and Painted African Wood Mask, "Queen Idia"
Theophilus Sackey of Ghana offers his interpretation of the FESTAC mask, hand-carved from native sese wood. The original mask, which depicts the visage of Queen Idia of Benin, became the logo for the arts and culture festival known as FESTAC '77. Sackey carves the mask from sese wood and paints it in deep blue-violet and black for a dramatic presentation.

"Nice wall sculpture"
Elegant carving of an historical figure. Darker in hue than shown in photo. Size is modest but blends well with other wall decor.
