$100 Million Sent to Artisans

A dream that began in 1999 to change the world has reached
unimaginable heights because of you. Through your purchases, we
have sent $100 million to artisans worldwide. (We think that deserves a
moment's pause!) It has allowed artisans to feed their families, build
their homes, support their communities, preserve ancient traditions,
and practice the art that inspires us all. Here's what it has meant to
them, in their own words. Let's keep this dream going. Our sights are
set on $200 million...and beyond!

“Joining Novica was one of my best decisions in life. You've improved our economy and given me a chance that no one else can when times are hard. This income is really helpful for our little family and community. I've been able to pay for my children's education. I could build my workshop and give jobs to mothers in my neighborhood. Your purchases not only help my little family but also many local mothers whose husbands and children are affected by the pandemic and have no other source of income. Thank you. We pray this storm will soon end.”

“Since we joined Novica, our lives have changed significantly. We have achieved a better quality of life, also changing the lives of five more families who work with us. This income helped pay for our children's studies. Something wonderful is that, with the sales, we were able to finish building our house, our home.

“With the pandemic, our lives changed. We thought we'd lose everything, but our angels in Novica brought us hope, giving my family moral and financial support. I have a son in college and I can continue to pay for it. We can also continue to employ our workers.

“That is why we are very grateful to be part of this family, where we have fulfilled many dreams. We hope to continue together for a long time to come.”

“Great is how I describe the payments I receive from Novica sales. These sales have enabled me to become confident in myself, because they have made me financially stable. I'm now able to solve at least some family challenges, do an educational upgrade for myself and my two siblings, provide shelter for my family and build a new workshop to continue expressing my thoughts and culture through carving. My family, neighbors and friends respect me for who I am. And I hope to pass on the family carving tradition to my two sons to continue bringing smiles to art lovers.”

“My life with Novica has lasted 20 years. The designs I capture in reverse painted glass are taken from nature and from the scenes of my village. I feel very proud of my craftsmanship and, over time, I have worked to spread it. Novica has been part of my growth process and my life because, thanks to these sales, my personal life changed forever.

“My art has not only been recognized by my loyal customers but, thanks to these orders, I've been able to improve my quality of life, educate my children, and now have a special space and a workshop that I expanded over time, giving access to mothers and young entrepreneurs - not only to learn the painted glass technique but to also help their own families through this work. In this way, we form a beautiful chain of help and work which we love and do with passion.”

With the money I've received through the sale of my wall hangings, I was able to purchase an industrial sewing machine to sew the wall hangings for myself and for my husband, Edward Adeniran, who also works in batik. I make replenishments from the money I receive from my Novica sales, and also use it to buy materials for my work. Novica makes us feel stronger in new product design, especially during the COVID-19 period, when I thought the crisis would ruin my sales. In Thailand, I have continued this sharing with women artisans of the creation of handmade work. Arts and crafts give us pleasure (and sometimes great frustrations!), and also a necessary income to support ourselves as women and/or families. And even more In these hard times of the global COVID 19 pandemic. Novica has become our only surviving income as shops and hotel gift boutiques are closed down because there are no customers. So thank you for being there and staying safe there!”

“Talking about my business, Novica helped me to buy a duplicating machine that has assisted me a great deal with the reproduction of my designs and the sustenance of my workshop. For the best part of the last twenty years, Novica has been my major source of income to take care of a family of six.”

Slowly, we started planning and saving to buy a house and, in 2016, our dreams came true. With savings from Novica sales and a small loan from the bank, we were able to buy our own home. We also extended our workshop to accommodate more helpers.

“Apart from sales, Novica has taught us a lot about quality. Any time an item was rejected, Novica always explained why it was not approved. And we learned from there, from our mistakes. Today we are where we are only because of Novica! Thank you for your help and support.”

And I hope and pray that Novica will always be there for my children and many other true craftspeople like me.”

“I've been part of the Novica family for 17 years. My beginnings were in a small place which I turned into a workshop to craft my musical instruments, following the family tradition from the Sierra of Peru over generations.

“I met Novica through a fair. I felt an immediate connection, and their support has always been constant. Today, thanks to the sales, I was able to invest in improving my workshop. I achieved recognition and was called to fairs and even to the Ministry of Culture, which allows me to expand my market and ensure the maintenance of the family. At the age of 75, I feel that I can still run my workshop with the help of my children, who are involved and support continuing the family traditions.”

“With the pandemic, the situation has become much more complicated, because now I depend totally on my work with Novica to be able to continue giving my daughters and wife their daily food. This is why I highly value all the work you do for us, as these sales have an impact, not only financially but also emotionally in my life. I hope to continue working with you for a long time.”

“For me and my family, the work with Novica came as a light at the end of the tunnel. We're living in a very difficult time, when many people do not value the work of the artisans. For us, having our work seen and recognized is gratifying.

“Thanks to Novica, I was able to send my eldest son to take a training and design course in leatherwork and we have had wonderful results, artistically. We are expanding our workshop and inserting new items such as purses and necklaces; we are innovating more and more.

“With the girls from Novica, we learned the importance of a job well done. I consider them all a part of my family.”

“I've been with Novica for seven years, but I feel it's been many more. I started with handlooms. With time, and effort, I implemented a plan to improve the conditions of my workshop. Novica has allowed us to continue growing, and we've been able to add machinery and improve our processes. We're happy to belong to this family.

“I trust that the pandemic that is going on all over the world will end soon. This break has also made me reconfirm my love for work and the satisfaction of delivering quality apparel.”

“I saw a great growth opportunity with Novica from the start. It has given me tremendous satisfaction to share my work and, today, Novica is one of my most important sources of income. Thanks to these sales, today I have several people who work with me and help me to produce more metal sculptures.”

“For me and my family, our Novica sales during these years have been of great help. This financial support has let us move forward with our commitments. We've been able to give more work to the people who help us in the workshop where we support women who are heads of their household to paint at home and thus care for their families. Novica has even supported me with an interest-free loan.

“Working with Novica, my life has had a significant change since, thanks to these orders, I've been able to fulfill some personal dreams. We improved the space in our workshop thanks to the income generated by orders and sales with you. We now offer artisan painting classes to tourists who visit our workshop and this, in turn, helps to generate more income and work for my employees. It also promotes our crafts locally and internationally.”

“Novica has given me an opportunity and a larger platform to show my work to the world out there. This has increased my ability to sell my masks and carvings, therefore I've seen a marked increase in profitability. I have also been able to educate my three children through college, and that has been the greatest gain I have had from Novica.”

“For me Novica has been a great blessing, a great help. We have managed to do many things that we would never have achieved outside of Novica. We have continuous income, which has helped us pay for my two children's studies, and thus also improve our lifestyle. I want to give my children all they need in the present so that, in the future, they are professionals. I want them to continue with the family workshop, but also have a university career, which gives them more opportunities. My gratitude to Novica is immense, as you've helped me to continue dreaming big.”

“I've been working with Novica for many years and I'm grateful for the opportunity I have. I remember one day when Diego said 'Novica is not for everyone and not everyone is for Novica.' This encouraged me because being part of Novica means that I have quality, capacity and the qualities of a craftswoman that Novica is seeking.

“During this time, I've been motivated to create new designs because I know that I have a space with Novica and there is also the guarantee that payments are made constantly.

“Especially in this time of COVID when all markets are closed, Novica has made sales and that means a lot to me, because it is practically my only source of income. Thank you very much for all the effort.”

“I take this opportunity to thank Novica. Novica has been of good help to me and my family. I am now taking care of the needy children in my area, with the aim of helping them to achieve their goals. I went to Bible school for three years and am now looking forward to putting up a building to expand my workshop through the proceeds I collect through Novica sales. I am very grateful for the day I met you.”

“I've been working with Novica for eight years. I describe my work in hand-tooled leather as a very delicate job as it requires a lot of effort, dedication and -above all- practice.

“Since joining the Novica family, my life has improved and I have overcome many difficulties along the way. Thanks to the sales of my art, I was able to finish building my house and was also able to expand my workshop in another location, which has been very significant for me. Our technique was perfected and I can also help young people with advice and work. Thanks to the sales and advice of Novica, I've been able to improve my quality by far and this is reflected in the comments of customers when they receive my designs.

“I'm very lucky to still be sharing my art.”

“I've been a part of Novica for more than 15 years. I was lucky. One day working in my workshop, they knocked on my door and, since then, we have worked tirelessly. I am very grateful for the trust you have given me and the opportunity to show my art to the world. I always try to give my best, and that is reflected in the materials I choose, as well as all the quality processes I do with my son Ali.

“Novica has always been transparent with us. That gives us a lot of security, and we are optimistic at this time. I will always seek to innovate and create new work. It gives me peace of mind to know that my creations can make people who buy my products happy. With Novica, we have walked together for a long time, and we want to continue doing so.”

“Novica has played a major role in bringing out the artist in me and I have grown with Novica over the years. When I joined Novica 14 years ago, I had just started painting as a hobby as I was richly inspired by the Madhubani art which originated in my home state, Bihar. Also during that time, I was expecting my son and I had to leave my teaching job to be with him. Initially, I painted to decorate my home and for friends and relatives. Everyone liked my painting and encouraged me to pursue it professionally. I inherited this art form from my tradition and culture and I take great pride in it. In Bihar, this art is a ritual which is done on the walls during every wedding. During my childhood days, I used to fill in colors on the designs. Later on, with self-interest, I learned the art by myself. This is when I happened to learn about Novica and the great opportunity it provides for upcoming artists. It is because of Novica that I took up painting as my profession. Along with Madhubani painting, I learned to execute the beautiful Gond paintings, too.

“It is through Novica that I've achieved fame in life. My painting, 'Tree of Life' was selected by Delhi University for the cover of their book, 'Indian History and Culture.' I have also authored a book titled 'Documentation on Madhubani painting.' This was commissioned by MSME, Hyderabad.

“It's been a wonderful journey for me so far and I am thankful to Novica and all the Novica shoppers for buying my paintings. Novica helped me to grow financially and at the same time helped me to keep our traditional Madhubani art form alive.”

“I have been a Novica artisan for the past 15 years, and I cannot talk about how I've been able to sustain myself up to now without mentioning Novica.

“For the past six years Novica has been a great support for me, and this is the impact it has had on my life. Through Novica, I have been able to provide education for my two daughters from junior high through senior high school, and they are currently in level 300 in the university. I have been able to acquire a plot of land, which is yet to be developed. Finally, Novica has also brought social interventions into my life by taking care of my family welfare and also assisting one of my workers who now has been trained as a graduate teacher. So I gratefully say, 'Aye koo Novica!' Thank you for a great work done. God bless!”

“I've been in Novica for 15 years, the same as my son's age. Before meeting Novica, I lived making 'applique cards' and selling them locally. Together with other artisans, I attended an important fair in the capital, and it was there that a Novica representative became interested in my work.

“In Novica, they have always been very attentive to me. Thanks to them, I've been able to meet other artisans from my hometown of Ayacucho, and thus be able to help artists who once faced the same difficulties as I did.

“Thanks to Novica, I've been able to buy tools for my workshop. But above all, I have been able to give quality of life to my son, and I am his only support.

“I thank Novica for believing in my art and I also thank you who buy my products with all my heart.”

“I have not regretted joining Novica. The company has helped me a lot and let me know that, yes, I can change my workshop to include many creative forms of art. It is my wish to help some of our community members who are not artisans. It is unfortunate that they don't know they are wasting their time on unnecessary ventures. Most of them are street children who dropped out of school, and I want to introduce them to the wood-carving craft.”

“Novica is a company that brings professionalism, ethics and -above all- respect to artists. This partnership based on mutual trust over the years is very gratifying. Having the opportunity to have my work appreciated in an international 'showcase,' with the certainty that it is being presented as having the best quality standards, is indeed a great benefit and source of pride for me. This is because it is information that is fixed throughout time, solidifying my trajectory as an artist. Sales and customer comments reflect the result of our effort. For me, it is a pleasure and privilege to be part of this partnership during these years.”

“One of my passions for many years has been creating sculptures in semi-precious stones. When I got to know Novica and saw that my work could be recognized worldwide, I immediately seized the opportunity of this partnership. Together with Novica, I've shared many joys and some sadness too. Most of all, one of the joys I am most proud of is that, thanks to Novica, I managed to improve my residence, giving better living conditions to my wife and my two children. Today, my 13-year-old son is my apprentice in the art of polishing and sculpting, and I teach my 16-year-old daughter how to manage gemstones. She's learning about prices, quality, etc. My only hope is that they continue my work and carry on my love for sculpting gemstones for many, many years.”

“My experience with Novica has brought me many satisfactions in addition to being valued by the company, since my work has been widely accepted by shoppers. All this has allowed me to grow because, every time I receive my earnings, I have money to invest in new materials as well as equipment and tools - always in improvements of the crafting processes as well as the professional growth itself. Always grateful!”
