Triple Strips Handwoven Blue and White African Kente Scarf, "My Heart's Desire"

Blue and white alternate in a delightful scarf from Rachel Armah. Woven by hand, traditional West African kente cloth depicts a design known as Mako Maso Adeae. The phrase means "my heart's desire" in the Akan language.
Each strip of kente cloth requires considerable effort, and the looms are worked with both hands and feet. Each color has its own meanings in Asante culture. Green is fertility and new harvest, gold is royalty, black is strength, aging and spirituality, and white is purity.

"Just as pretty as the picture"
They are just as beautiful as they look. Sometimes throw a stethoscope around my neck at work and these dont get in the way because they are a little on the heavier side. The colors are gorgeous. I have short dark curly hair and have gotten complements on these every time I have worn them.

"Beautiful"
These are substantial and beautiful. The photos cannot show how the light hits the soapstone and turns them from green to yellow to gold to brown to blue...I always get complements on them with my short dark hair!
