Inspired by romantic themes and determined to honor this powerful sensation, Peruvian artist Luitpol crafts an aluminum sculpture of a harlequin holding a little red flower made from acrylic, symbolizing love. Three voluptuous hearts beat with the promise of love in a sculpture by John Barrow. Dyed in various shades of red, the sculpture is handcrafted with Peruvian woods in the designer's trademark style.

“This is my contribution to the World Peace Project, explains Peruvian artisan Julio Gallardo. “In it, I propose unity and love for all. I’ve created this with the intention of spreading a message of unconditional love for others, starting at home.

“In this retablo, I’ve illustrated a traditional family workshop here in Peru, where, in a participatory manner, each person elaborates a distinct message of love and affection,” explains the artist. “The love and peace possible within this family workshop serve as a metaphor, portraying the unity, strength and perseverance possible between humans – for that is our goal for a better coexistence in the world.”

“I love the type of work I do,” the artisan adds, “as it allows me to capture any scene, thought or idea within a wooden box, and delve deeply into the meaning with each detail. That is why I am so passionate about these creations called retablos, inspired by the place where I was born – my land, Peru, and its culture, people, streets, and faces.

Inspired by the Day of the Dead, this exceptional diorama is meticulously handcrafted from black walnut wood. He handcrafts this retablo of local tornillo wood, featuring two swinging doors that are painted by hand with a floral design. These doors open to a fantastic world, depicting a group of salesmen in their tienda de corazones, surrounded by a variety of colorful hearts. Each miniscule piece in this retablo is crafted and painted by hand. Gallardo draws inspiration from themes of love, hoping to spread that with this creative retablo.

The profound and timeless emotion of romantic love, which unites two individuals in both life and the afterlife, serves as the driving force behind this extraordinary retablo depicting two skeletons on their wedding day.
