Acrylic on Canvas Ghanaian Painting in Four Vignettes, "Day Reward"$289.99
Working in a medley of colors, Frank Coffie explores a typical weekday for many residents of Accra. He divides the canvas into four vignettes, tracing the chronology from top to bottom. Rising before dawn, shadowy figures venture forth toward the market to be ready for early shoppers. Three women walk together as the sun comes up and, later, await the bus for the ride back home. Finally, night's darkness envelops high-rise apartments, where only a few lights remain on. "Adjust to the issues of life," the young artist says. "The day will take you through light and darkness, happy and sad moments before it ends."
Original Signed Brazilian Painting of Polo Players, "Polo at Gavea"$369.99
Horses gallop neck to neck as players face off in a game of polo. Claudia Thomaz depicts an exciting match at the Gávea Club in Rio de Janeiro. "They are training for the Olympic Games," she says.
Titled "Polo na Gávea" in Portuguese.
Modern Ghanaian Signed Painting of Four Women, "Fallen Conversation"$814.99
Women carry bowls and gourds on their heads as they go about their daily chores. Frank Coffie depicts the stylized figures with elongated shapes that convey their grace. In many parts of West Africa, it is common to carry water home from lakes and rivers and the task usually falls to women. "It's customary to pause for a conversation on the shore," the artist explains. "Appreciate every moment."
Signed Expressionist Painting in Pink from Ghana, "To the Other Side"$649.99
Inspired by themes of desperation and a search for satisfaction, Ghanaian artist Frank Coffie paints a truly evocative composition. Using a stick to find his way among the city, the artist's subject searches for a new destination. Frank employs an expressionist style, bathing the city in a soft pink light.
