Bright shades of yellow and green adorn this African mask by artisan Abdul Aziz Mohamadu of Ghana. The mask is hand-crafted out of rubberwood and wears a melancholy expression. Thus, the artisan names the mask Asempa, which means "good news" in the Akan language.

I was immediately attracted to the colors of this mask. They match my sofa and the painting hanging over it perfectly. And of course the expression of the mask is captivating. Sort of a sad face, but also a peaceful face. Love it! Superb crafting and imagination. Marsha

Abdul is such a talented craftsman and artist, as well. I have had this beautiful box sitting on my coffee table for quite some time now. My apologies to Abdul for the overdue review. Thanks again, Abdul!

The mask lacks vibrance. The colors are dull. Very Primitive in nature. The red doesnt appear as vivid as the photo. The size is nice. I recognize that one cant duplicate a mask over and over exactly due to it being handmade.
