This whimsical collection of elephants, butterflies, turtles, birds, giraffes, tigers, monkeys, frogs, alpacas, and dogs will help you create the most unique Christmas tree you've ever seen. Jose Arriola painstakingly handcrafts and hand-paints each tiny piece in terracotta and adds a loop for hanging. They arrive with a cotton bag for easy storage.

Please note: Animal assortment and colors may vary slightly.

Jose Arriola learned the art of ceramics from his mother. His work is inspired by old Mayan traditions and the bright colors of his homeland.

“Wonderful tiny creatures”

“These Eclipse Ornaments Remind Me Of My Son”

My son passed away in an accident in August 2023. He loved astronomy and had a telescope he loved to share with us. He wasnt here on earth to see the two eclipses last year, but I know he had a marvelous view of them from heaven! These ornaments will always remind me that he is still with us and is busy exploring the wonders of the universe!

Preserving Traditions

Jose creates the most beautiful ceramic ornaments and figurines. His family has lived in Antigua for more than 100 years and he takes great pride in practicing the same ceramic techniques his ancestors used. He wishes to help this tradition continue and he teaches anyone in his community who has an interest in learning.

Microcredit Financing

Jose Arriola has received 7 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $450 and the most recent for $2550. Proceeds were used to purchase paints and materials for his ceramics to continue production.

Jose's children are all grown but but he does provide financial support for the education of one person outside of his family and he occasionally supports other children's school expenses.

Jose has been dealing with diabetes for over 17 years. His condition has caused many problems for him, but currently he is able to control it and enjoy his life.
