Ghanaian artisan Awudu Saaed crafts this noble African mask by hand from local sese wood to depict a parrot atop a man's head. He adds a sheet of embossed aluminum to the forehead, decorating the mask with multicolored recycled glass beads beneath the eyes. Saaed names the mask Adom, meaning "help from God" in the Akan language.

Not sure how I stumbled upon this mask in the first place but from the moment I saw it, something about it haunted me. Its beautiful. I could NOT stop thinking about it and finally caved, and Im so glad I did. The colors, the beadwork, and the craftsmanship are all incredible. This is my favorite piece of art we own, by far. I cant wait to collect more of Awudu Saaeds work.
