Details

Inspired by the artistic traditions of the Moche people, Walter Jose Acosta crafts a handsome huaco sculpture of a warrior. Huacos were crafted to make a portrait of somebody famous, like this warrior with an eagle headdress to symbolize his reverence for nature. Eagles, amongst other Andean birds, represented power. The ceramic sculpture is crafted by hand and treated to a specialized finish to create an antique illusion.

"Exceptional craftsman at work"

A most famous Moche stirrup vessel at the Larco Herrera museum in Lima is now available to anyone since Walter Acosta applied his talents in making a replica. Correct clay and thickness, exact detail of artwork and paint used. Special aging process is unheard of. I have seen many replicas since 1975 but this appears ancient original. Professional packing & Shipping. Thanks to Senor Acosta and NOVICA. Michael Garland, Lake Stevens, Washington USA

Arrived in excellent condition. Colors and appearance exactly as pictured. My friend who was the recipient was excited to receive and cherishes the gift as a reminder of our last trip to Peru.

"Not like the photograph"

I like this piece, however mine is not painted as in the photograph, and that is very disappointing. I wonder if something happened to my piece, because the picture is very misleading.
