Red and yellow are always a winning combination when you want to brighten up your space and fill it with life. You can do so with this colorful cushion cover designed by Peruvian artisan Antonio Vasquez featuring bird motifs inspired by the traditional iconography and cave paintings of the region of Cajamarca. The front is woven by hand from cotton while the back is made from a plain polycotton drill fabric. A cushion (not included) can be inserted thanks to a hidden zipper on the back.

The girl from Puno is dressed in blue and yellow with a scarf around her neck, and the lady from Ñusta wears colorful apparel and a flat, square hat.

Designed and crafted by Deborcio Choquecahua of Peru, this beautiful alpaca blend tapestry is the artisan's interpretation of the Nazca monkey. The early inhabitants of the Nazca region of southern Peru would use the shape of the monkey's spiral tail to represent the constellation we call Ursa Major. The Nazca monkey's hands are specifically placed to mark the relationship of additional stars to the Ursa Major constellation during the rainy season. The artisan uses colors that transition in an ombre effect from gold to brown for the hummingbird, and uses a similar transition of color in the background from deep brown to near white, giving the illusion that the hummingbird is aglow.

Stylized peacocks and pretty flowers pose on festive ornaments — one each in green, red, yellow and orange. Working in an ancient art they learned from their father, the Canto Sisters craft the set from dried gourds harvested from the yerba mate plant. They are cleaned, dried and painted before the images are meticulously engraved around the surface by hand.

Cultivated on the Peruvian coast for 6,000 years, mate gourds were decorated with images of birds and fish by the pre-Inca Moche and Chimu peoples. But it was the Inca who went on to use the gourds as cups and bowls, in ceremonial objects and in musical instruments.

Because each unique piece is handcrafted from a natural gourd, please expect slight variations in shape, size and motifs.
