"An artist, in my imagination, is a man with his own will to do anything because he is free."
"My name is Sutianto, but people call me 'Tanto' for short. I was born in a cool village called Banyuwangi, East Java on March 3, 1972. When I was a child I wanted to be a great artist so I could travel all over the world. An artist, in my imagination, is a man with his own will to do anything because he is free. His desire is his command. No one can tell him what to do and what not to do.
"I started to draw pictures from magazines when I was still in elementary school. To realize my childhood dream, I continued my studies at art college in 1988. I also learned painting from a senior artist, M. Tholib Prasojo. I asked him many questions and learned many things from him. World nature and human social life inspire me in creating paintings with oils or pastels on canvas or paper. There is one thing that bothers me. It's so hard for me to focus on my work if there is no inspiration in sight.
"I have participated in several collective exhibitions throughout Bali and Java. I've also received a prize from Praktika Adhi Karya SMSR Surabaya.
"High thanks to what Novica is doing in promoting my work. I will be very happy if people understand my visualizations through my works."
