This fabulous wall mask depicts the face of a traditional Legong Kraton> dancer from Bali. One of the region's most important dances, legong kraton is typically performed by court attendants, telling stories and legends. Nyoman Indrawati Subrata of the Subrata Family hand-carves the intricate image of rich suar wood. The artisan carries on the extraordinary art work of her late father, Nyoman Subrata.

"An addition to my Indonesian masks collection"
An unbelievable wood carving mask. I have Janger dancer masks and other masks made in Indonesia. It’s a beautiful, intricate details wood carving. It is now adorned our formal dining room, together with my other hand made items from Indonesia and other countries.I am originally from Indonesia, so I am familiar with the wood carving.

"Wonderful craftsmanship!"
This is the third Bali/Java mask that I have purchased from Novica and it is perfect, as I expected. The mask has such carved intricate detail and its so beautiful. Excellent workmanship! Packaging was top rate and shipping was faster than I could have hoped for. Excellent work, all around.

Preserving Traditions
Subrata has been a master carver for many years. He is one of the original Novica artisans and now provides work to other artisans at his carving workshop. He has trained his daughter, Indrawati, in all aspects of his business and she will keep the workshop going when Subrata no longer is able to.

Nyoman Subrata has received 6 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $1300 and the most recent for $2600. Proceeds were used to stock up on the materials he needs, such as various woods.
