Working in the time-honored technique of Nahua community artisans, Eufrosia Pantaleon depicts a sun face with splendid floral and bird motifs covering its surface. This handcrafted ceramic plaque from Mexico is hand-painted in a variety of vivid, happy colors, and hangs from a nylon cord.
Eufrosia has confronted adversity and hardship, but has still caused her strength to overcome every obstacle and continues to pursue her ceramic art with NOVICA.
Eufrosia uses traditional techniques taught by elder members of the Nahua community where she was born. The colorful style dates from the 1950s, but the ceramic tradition has its roots in pre-Hispanic times. The artisan passes down her knowledge to her children who will continue creating handicrafts of culturally significance.
