Love the colors of the Retablo”

The Nativity Retablo is a perfect size for where I want to use it. I love the blue colors of the night sky and the stars. The figures are really colorful, too. I really like it. The only problem with the "Blue Nativity" I bought--he didn't allow the colors to dry all the way, so the door stuck and some of the paint pulled away from the wood in about 5 small spots on the door and the front of the shelves. I am going to try to find some paint to match and touch up those spots, because I love the Retablo and don't want to return it. I received it more quickly than was promised, but wish that he had waited one more day to send it, to make sure the paint was dry.

I Display This All Year”

This charming small Retablo is too wonderful to put away after the Christmas season, so I found a permanent place where I can enjoy seeing it all year. The craftsmanship is wonderful and the modest size suited my smaller home perfectly.

I have not yet seen this item in person. I bought 3 of them 1 for each priest in my area. They were very well received and each expressed that they were very well made and that they really liked it. They liked theirs so much that I am going to have to add this to my list of things i would like to get for myself. From what Ive been told by the recipients of these, the artist really took time and care in all of the detail provided in aking this. Thank you so much for making such a nice item!

There is an amazing amount of detali in this little mirror. I recently painted and replaced the sink with a Mexican tile backsplash and this sweet little detail fits in perfectly.

Profound Impact

Profound Impact

Novica sales provide Alejandro's family workshop with a steady cash flow. These sales account for nearly half of their monthly income, helping to ensure their survival. Markets and other seasonal outlets provide supplemental income that contributes to their annual living expenses. In the coming years, Alejandro hopes to grow his workshop and better his family by increasing his Novica sales.

Preserving Traditions

Preserving Traditions

At school in Ayacucho, Alejandro began to learn the indigenous art of Andean retableria. Seeking to refine his craft, he apprenticed at the workshop of Angel Castro to learn the secrets of a master retablista. Upon his teacher's death, Alejandro founded his own workshop. There he began to incorporate his wife's modeled figures into his traditional retablos. Today Alejandro's nephews are his apprentices and his family workshop continues to craft their beloved retablos, which recount the culture and traditions of the Andes.

Enabling Education

Enabling Education

Today Alejandro continues to provide for the education of his children and his grandchild, who joined the family in 2018. His daughter Carol is studying accounting and his son Jose is at the police academy.
