From the female artisan group Ranm Ixoqi' of Chimaltenango, Guatemala, comes this multi-colored, loom-woven scarf. Ranm Ixoqi' means "woman's heart" in Kaqchikel, a language of Mayan descent still spoken in several departments in the central region of Guatemala. Using a traditional backstrap loom, rayon in aqua, hot pink, milk white, poppy, and deep terracotta, along with various shades of blue, such as sapphire, baby blue, and cobalt, is hand-woven into this pretty striped scarf with fringe on the ends. The weaver is inspired in her choice of colors by blue's universal appeal and creates a checkerboard-patterned accessory that will soon become a staple in your wardrobe.
