Expressionist Signed Modern Painting from West Africa, "Reflections at the River"

Standing tall against the limitless sky, a woman splashes through the shallows at river's edge. She carries a basin on her head, perhaps preparing to do launder or to carry water back to her home. Her feet cause ripples in the shallow pools where her image is reflected in quick little waves. "The closer you get to the river, you see a reflection of yourself," artist Frank Coffie explains. "That is how the river speaks."
