White clouds shaped like corn over indigo blue skies honor Maya beliefs. They call themselves "People of the Corn" to mark their origin, according to Maya cosmogony. Also, in Guatemala, corn is of utmost importance in people's diet. The women artists of Komon Utzil weave this table runner on a traditional loom featuring the jaspe corn-like patterns, which has persevered in Guatemala textiles for centuries. It is achieved with tie-and-dye techniques.
