Working with native suar wood, Nengah Sudarsana creates this charming statuette. The sculpture depicts a black cat, legs folded in the lotus pose and one paw lifted in a blessing gesture. Kitty's eyes are closed as he seeks to attain peace and enlightenment in meditation.

Holding its front paws above its head, a stark black cat reaches toward the sky while sitting in the asana, or lotus position. Inhaling and exhaling deeply, the cat practices Hindu yoga in a sculpture by Bali's Nengah Sudarsana. He masterfully carves and paints the suar wood feline by hand.

Andi Rachmansyah transforms buffalo horn into a beautiful Hamsa or the Hand of Fatima pendant. The Balinese artisan's excellent carving skills are evident in the detailed artistry that adorns the Hamsa hand. In Jewish and Muslim traditions, Fatima or Miriam's hand is regarded as a good luck amulet and protector from wrath, catastrophe and jealousy. The black pendant is worn on a black braided leather cord.
