Craftspeople in Ecuador have made hats from the fibers of the flexible and durable toquilla palm tree for more than 400 years. Despite their origins, they're known as Panama hats because that's the port from which they were shipped to North America and Europe. This structured Panama hat features a pinched, two-tone crown and a grosgrain ribbon band.

Flanked by a fleet of tiny paper boats, a crescent moon sets sail, burdened with a realistic human heart. This fascinating surreal artwork is from Mexico's Alejandro Camacho. He works in the aquatint engraving technique, enhancing the limited edition print with watercolors and acrylics.

Peruvian fishermen symbolize the country's hardworking nature, battling but loving the sea in an inspirational way captured in Carlos Morales's impressionist composition. Working with oil on canvas, the artisan depicts a fascinating scene of a fisherman peacefully navigating in his boat while the warm lights of the sunset start to cover the ocean's water.
