A man in a heavy collar and ornate earplugs wears a graceful headdress made from leaves of corn. In his hands, he holds a bowl of fresh golden maize as an offering of gratitude to the gods. Skilled members of the Angel Ceron Artisan Association create an image in handcrafted ceramic to honor Mexico's pre-Hispanic civilizations. The headdress is similar to that of a Classic Maya sculpture from Copan that can be seen in the Peabody Museum. Their concept may be inspired by a Maya maize God image from the same archaeological site, now on display in the British Museum. However the artisans give the deity the look of an aged man.

The artisans depict the warrior with his head turned sideways, as custom dictated to depict high ranking characters. Crafting the sculpture from ceramic with colorful feathers and an eagle headdress, the Mexican artisan portrays the courageous warrior with a shield and a macahuitl, a type of sword that was encrusted with sharp obsidian shards.
