Popular Modern and Freestyle Paintings from Thailand
Watercolor Monoprint of Blood Moon and Blue Grass, "My Home II"$309.99
April's famed 'Blood Moon' of 2015 inspires Det to create this watercolor monoprint. "Everything seemed different that night, the moon turned orange, so I depicted the birds and the grass differently too – in blue," explains the Thai artist. "The underlying theme in 'My Home' series is that the environment around me is as warm as my home. This painting has a cold feeling that eventually becomes just as warm and safe as my home."
Silver Elephant on Golden Lotus Thai Signed Painting, "Faith of Lanna III"$247.99
Standing on a golden lotus throne, a silvery elephant is adorned with more blossoming lotuses while the night sky is filled with colorful shooting stars. "In the days of ancient Lanna, people regarded the elephant and lotus as symbols of goodness so they respected them, and had faith in them," explains the Thai artist. Appearing in gold and silver foil, the pachyderm and lovely blooms are speckled with acrylic colors as Det paints on saa (mulberry) paper.
Monochrome Signed Portrait Painting, "The Leopard"$489.99
Eyes staring into the distance, a leopard is a magnificent creature that inspires Sakchai. He paints with acrylics in monochrome hues, creating the portrait through energetic strokes of wide paint brushes. The feline's expressive presence reveals Sakchai's sensibility.
Signed Painting of an Elephant and a Red Sun from Thailand, "Happiness Smile II"$387.99
This painting is part of Thai artisan Det's concept "Elephant beauty from my mind." Against a stark red sun in a vertical composition, an elephant in black and white with realistic details raises its trunk towards the sky. Det reflects on how the sun strikes happiness in humans and elephants alike, surrounding the red sun with gleaming gold foil.
