This serenely beautiful personage comes from the Gonja people of northern Ghana. Rich textures cover the symmetrical features, achieved through applications of aluminum repoussé and white clay. By Sefah Mohammed, it is a type of mask once used by the Queen of northern Ghana as a symbol for a staff of unity among people of the Gonja Kingdom.
