Pre-Hispanic Mictlantecuhtli Ceramic Ocarina Flute, "Lord of the Underworld"
Mictlantecuhtli is seen as the skull of a very old man. Represented as a skeleton, the Lord of the Dead is revered throughout most of Mexico's pre-Hispanic cultures as one of the most powerful deities. He was considered the king of the underworld realm of Mictlán. Working in terracotta, Rita Sandoval crafts an ocarina flute in the shape the frightening figure. These whistle-like flutes are thought to have been used in pre-Hispanic ceremonies.

"Love these!"
I am very picky on how my catrinas have to look. I only own 2 and this was my 3rd. LOVE IT! The muted colors especially because most seem to be too bright and showy and I know some people love that but these are toned down and so I ordered 2 more. Waiting for the turquoise to be back in stock!!!!

"Nicely done"
Mask doesnt quite pop the way I expected it to - it looks relatively flat. But its still a fine piece of work and certainly an unusual item to include in a display.

"BEAUTIFUL"
She very quickly became one of my favorite thing in the house. She s on a shelf next to my bed and every night I tell her goodnight. The detail is impeccable. Definitely 100%+++++ the money I spent. Especially considering she was created in Mexico makes her even more special. Beautiful. Beautiful. BEAUTIFUL.
