Decorate for Christmas with these painted calabash gourds from the Amazon rainforest. From his home in the Peruvian port city of Iquitos on the Amazon River, Alex Mermao crafts these ornaments with dried calabash fruits, harvested from the depths of the rainforest by indigenous communities. Once dried, each calabash is hand painted with acrylic paint and receives a string, made from the fibers of native chambira palm tree leaves.

"Boopable!"
This little fellow sits on a table near our entry, and his little bobble head gets frequent gentle hello boops. We are enjoying this fun addition to our home from a faraway land!

"Love this little guy!"
This tortoise is just adorable! I get so many compliments on him. Love the wood its made from as well. May buy a couple more to give as gifts.
