A study on the survival of the weak in the food chain and also on the negative influence of men in polluting the ocean is what Balinese artist A. A. Darmayuda presents in this Surrealist-style painting crafted with oil paint on canvas. The composition shows a school of fish going after a candy tossed at sea and they know they have better chances of getting the prized meal if they stay together.
"This work was inspired by a group of fish fighting for food. A sweet red candy becomes the focus of the search for the fish. Swimming in groups is a defense system from vicious predators," says the artist.
