Woven from 100% cotton on a foot loom, this set of three plaid dishtowels will add charm and color to your kitchen decor. Designed by Guatemalan artisan Eladio Chiroy in three different colors, each towel features a unique image embroidered on it. The cornflower blue towel displays a fish, the crimson towel a pepper, and the emerald towel a pineapple. Every dishtowel is equipped with a loop to easily hang the towel.

Eladio suffered from a severe depression after his wife left him. His youngest son, Juan, was his light during that dark time. Caring for Juan was his motivation to keep going and helped him overcome his depression.

Zandra lost her husband in 2017 and now is the sole provider for her 3 children: Fabricio, Alejandro and Dulce. Through her craft, she is able to support her children and increase their livelihood.

Eladio uses and handloom to create his textiles. He was taught to use a handloom by his father at a young age and he recognizes it importance to Guatemalan culture and history. Before he started weaving for as a NOVICA artist, he was a school teacher and included and handloom in his classroom so he could teach any students that were interested in learning.

Zandra started off as a humble artisan with a strong passion. Since her start with NOVICA, she has been able to grow her business and achieve more than she thought possible. She is able to support her children, create jobs in her community, and has become one of the most respected artisans in her city.

Eladio has created several employment opportunities in his community. He chooses to hire and support artisans that are older in age so they can provide for their families.

Eladio went from being an employee to a self-employed artisan as he pursued his passion and love of creating textiles.

Zandra financially supports her three children's education and plans to send the three of them to university as well.

The Women's Empowerment badge is awarded to female artisans or artisan groups that are led by women.

Although Eladio has arthritis, he continues to work diligently and provide for him and his son.

Zandra has 6 employees that she is able to support, providing them with fair wages.

This artist is an elder master and continues to actively practice their craft.

Eladio is a proud and loving father who financially supports his children.

Eladio is financially supporting his youngest child's education.

Eladio and his work has been featured in several books.
