Robert Aidoo-Taylor designs a collection of necklaces for men inspired by the masks worn by the people of New Guinea, specifically around the Sepik River. The ancestral masks denote social and spiritual significance. For this necklace Aidoo-Taylor carves the ofram wood mask pendant by hand, combining Nigerian customs. He names the brown, pink, and black ceremonial mask Kalangu, after the Hausa drum. The pendant is worn on an adjustable black cord.

I love wearing this necklace. Nicely carved, and the pink accents stand out well against the earthy brown/black. Perfect length, no clasps to mess with. I browsed all the African mask pendants and this one is my favorite.
