Meticulous craftsmanship goes into the creation of this awe-inspiring decorative vase from Central American artisan Luis Miguel Campos. "These types of vessels have a very fine pattern; they're very time consuming because of how precise the detail must be," explains Luis Miguel, "but the final product is a sight to behold, and it gives me much satisfaction." The Nicaragua native crafts the round ceramic vessel using age-old techniques, which include mixing the terracotta clay from which the vase is made with his feet. Luis Miguel, who prefers to use only natural pigments and cobalt oxide as coloring, etches the intricate triangle design onto the vase's blue surface by hand.
"I hope to continue with this family legacy which has made me who I am today. I hope to be able to give something back to my family."
