Handcrafted Batik Robe from Indonesia, "Ocean Symphony"
Swirling shades of blue, violet and indigo evoke a mysterious underwater world. Painted by hand, they grace this long batik robe by Desak Nyoman Parwati. As beautiful as it is comfortable, its flattering front-wrap style, wide sleeves and matching belt make this robe a favorite.
This handpainted batik robe is a truly original work of art. Sunlight, water, dye and temperature all factor into the look of the finished robe. This should be considered a unique design made especially for you. Colors and pattern placement will vary.

"Birthday present for myself!"
I decided to treat myself for my birthday with the Ocean Symphony Batik robe. It is truly a treat! The colors are as represented, a lovely ocean themed combination of aqua, royal blue and purple with some lighter shades. Its a joy to wear. The fabric is nice and solid, but not heavy, stiff, or flimsy like some batiks. The fit is fine and very comfortable. I am most impressed with the craftsmanship, though. Every seam is enclosed, including the pockets and front placket and shaping seams. This type of french seam will ensure that no fraying occurs. I plan to enjoy this lovely robe for a very long time. Many thanks to the artist who created this beautiful piece!

"My daughter will love this!"

"Absolutely Beautiful!"
I am so very happy with this dress. It is even prettier in person-the different colors in the batik work stand out and are gorgeous. The fit is perfect and the construction and fabric professional.. I can wear it with a t-shirt, or dress it up with a little jacket or shawl. Very good purchase!

"Perfect vacation wear."

Preserving Traditions
For eleven years Desak worked with a batik artisan learning all aspects of the process, from wax painting to dyeing. From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.
