This stunning hand-painted rayon robe is the creation of Bali's Desak Nyoman Parwati. The artisan lavishly adorns the turquoise robe with sunflower flower motifs in candy apple red and moss green leaves. Belt loops and pockets on each side make welcome additions.

“My New Summer Favorite”

Each fabric in the patchwork is a work of art. The pockets are roomy and the dress flows nicely. I look forward to those hot summer days when I can wear this all day and into the night.

“Exactly what my summer wardrobe needed”

The color really is just as lovely as in the photo! I was looking for something bright and fun, but also something that wasnt too short or revealing. It feels almost impossible to find a summer dress that isnt see-through or has anything other than spaghetti straps. With this dress I dont need to worry about bra straps showing, and Im not worried about wearing it in sunlight. It has pockets (awesome!), the skirt is nice and flowy., and the fabric feels nice. All around a lovely choice to add to your wardrobe!

“Another gorgeous dress”

“Not the same.”

I have 3 of these dresses that I ordered in the past, and this new one is not the same nice quality. The fabric of this new one is heavier and rougher and doesn t feel as nice as the other 3. This is so disappointing, especially because the price has gone up.I won t be buying anything else from Novica.

For eleven years Desak worked with a batik artisan learning all aspects of the process, from wax painting to dyeing. From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.

Microcredit Financing

Desak Nyoman Parwati has received 3 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2800 and the most recent for $4000. Proceeds were used to invest in the purchase of textiles and batik dyes to increase production in time for the holiday season.

Job Creator

Through perseverance, Desak has grown her workshop. She now employs members of her family and give jobs to other artisans in her community.
