Details

Lord Robert Penrose creates this wonderful mask that is made using local alstonia wood. He carve the wood by hand into his own design, before painting the face and eyes in shades of blue and red. Local clay is used at the end to add an attractive distressed finish to the mask. The oval face has small hollowed eyes and an elongated nose, which is flanked by etchings on both cheeks. The artisan names the mask Deeba, which is a shorted version of Dartebea, an Akan name for a Ghanaian woman.
