Guatemalan Handmade Jacobin Hummingbird Clay Bird Figurine, "Jacobin Hummingbird"
Mauricio Morales crafts a small ceramic bird figurine that features exquisite hand painted detailing. "The process for making these small animals was something I learned when I was small...since then it has become a passion of mine," says the Guatemalan artisan, adding that the bird sculpture is made for, "...all of those who love birds." He starts by mixing the clay and carefully shaping the figure,and then he adds aluminum legs and feet. After the bird is fired, he sands it, mixes his own colors and paints the figurine. The result is a charming and precise depiction of a jacobin hummingbird complete with blue head, slender bill, white belly, and green plumage.

"Say Pretty Bird"
Hummingbirds visit the feeder outside our living room window every year. Their appearance, their chatter, their ducking and diving are a joy to watch. And now our Jacobin Hummingbird sits perched on the sill of that window so we can see him all year round. (We wonder if the visiting hummers will notice and react to him. Time will tell.)

"Another beautiful bird!"
I bought his Red Lord Amazon parrot. Liked so much, that I purchased this King fisher. I often see them while kayaking. The sculptures are gorgeous!!!!!

"One of the sweetest birds yet!"
I have been looking for a reason to buy this little gem of a bird. I bought it as a gift for a friend - to remember his mother. I know he will treasure this little Beauty.
