Details

Ireland's "forty shades of green" are reflected in Connemara marble, a rich green stone found only in western Ireland and dating back more than 900 million years to the Precambrian era. In this handcrafted necklace, deep green Connemara marble peeks out from behind a sterling silver hawthorn tree--widely known as the preferred home of the fairy folk.

Fairies are an important part of Irish lore, and even those who are skeptical about the existence of "the wee folk" will err on the side of not disturbing them. Centuries of fables have warned about the misfortune that befalls anyone foolhardy enough to disturb the home of these bad-tempered creatures. Farmers will plow a wide circle around a solitary tree, and in 1999 a major highway in County Clare was rerouted to avoid disturbing a hawthorn tree after local storytellers stirred up local superstitions. Whatever the truth of the fairies and the hawthorn tree, these iconic earrings bring a connection to both the land and the lore of the Emerald Isle and make a perfect gift for just about anyone.

"Great Product"

Gorgeous! The marble comes from an area in Ireland where my father grew up. They arrived in good condition and I will cherish them. I thought they would be larger but that was my error. Very pleased with product.

"Lovely Earrings..."

The Connemara marble Fairy tree earrings are small but lovely! I was a little disappointed in the color of the marble as it was described as a 'rich green' and it is more of a brownish color. However, that is not too noticeable when wearing them since it is on the back side of the sterling silver tree. All in all, a nice pair of earrings for day to day wear!

"Lovely & artistic earrings!"

Very nice pair of earrings, like the small size and delicate beauty of the set. Only criticism: they can slip off quite easily unless you put a small rubber holder through the wires, so be careful, and do that in order not to lose the earrings - this happened to me once & I could not find the earring that fell. Would be great if the earrings came with the small rubber piece to hold the earrings in place once you put them on!
