Details

Bold colors command attention in this handsome wristband bracelet for men, crafted by Ghana's Robert Aidoo-Taylor. The black, green, wine and yellow bracelet is woven from sturdy cords around a recycled paper core. It closes with a brass snap. The artisan names it barima, which is the Akan word for "man".

The artisan was inspired by a renowned rattan weaver who would use such designs on his baskets. The braided design is known as messa in the Akan language; it means "three strands".
