Baule wood mask, "Marriage Ceremony"
Two faces gaze straight ahead, yet their temples touch in a solemn gesture of affection. "The female wears a mask of white clay, and both wear matching headdresses," says artisan Salihu Ibrahim. "Such masks are worn by couples of the Baule tribe of Ivory Coast during their marriage ceremonies."
The mask is designed for wall display only and cannot stand on its own.

"Fabulous piece by favorite artist"

Had my eye on this item for over a year and finally decided to get it. Am I glad! Salihu Ibrahim is my favorite Novica artist and I have a few other pieces of his. The size of the picture needed to capture the mane doesn t do it full justice. Beautiful in hand. Thank you for another exquisite piece of art.
