Colorful Christmas trees are recreated in tinplate and then hand painted in this cheerful set of ornaments from artisans Aida and Cristino Lavariega from Oaxaca state in Mexico. This type of metalwork used to be seen only in churches in the capital city of Oaxaca de Juarez, principally in the form of images of saints or of the Virgin Mary. Only in more recent decades did artisans expand into other areas such as decorative pieces. Each of the six bright green trees is accented with silvery borders, dotted with yellow, red, and pink ornaments, and crowned with a red star and a loop at the top. The set is perfect for adding a bit of holiday cheer to any corner of the house.
