Maize is the staff of life in Mesoamerica, and Mario Chávez depicts a flourishing corn plant as a motive for joy. Bright birds perch amid the leaves to sing of the harvest to come. Woven on the handloom with naturally tinted wool, this accent rug is an elegant example of Zapotec weaving. The artisan names his design Árbol de la vida en pistache in Spanish. Because each piece is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 1 inch (3 cm).
