Inspired by the works of the great Armenian painter Minas Avetisyan, this acrylic on canvas painting depicts Armenian women at a khachkar, or "cross-stone". Khachkars are memorial steles that are a traditional form of medieval Christian art in Armenia. Artist Anzhelika Jaghinyan captures the faith and silent prayers that are an integral part of the life of an Armenian woman. She uses the full spectrum of colors and surrounds her subject with expressionistic forms and shapes. The painting is signed by the artist with her nickname, Karik.
