Ali Ibrahim in Ghana crafts a replica of a West African war sword, or akofena. The sword is one of many Ashanti adinkra symbols that convey symbolic meanings and proverbs via visual icons. The war sword symbolizes courage, valor and heroism. Ibrahim carves the unique piece by hand from native sese wood and adorns it with embossed brass and aluminum accents.

Amazing quality, craftsmanship, & origin story”

My ancestors come from the Akan people and I was so happy to get them this weapon as they made it clear no other would do. I genuinely was so ecstatic to receive my package and I love everything about the sword! It?s powerful, elegant, meaningful, and just downright badass! Thank Ali Ibrahim for crafting this with your own hands. I read your story and was truly touched. Keep up the amazing work!

Exquisite piece of art”

This Gye Nyame Trophy, form the Akan people of Ghana, means He who knows and sees everything . It works very well with my other collection of African art and receives complements as well.

Conversation piece”

This is very tall and very nice! I love the symbolism of it and it is a great conversation piece. Everyone who enters my house wants to know more about my lovely bird. I will treasure it forever.

A Unique and Beautiful Piece”

What a beautifully crafted piece of art! When I received it, it was larger than I thought it would be, and I could tell right away that much love had gone into crafting this goblet. Mine is displayed on a black wood accent table in my dining room. Looks beautiful...Thank you Ali and Novica for bringing this wonderful art to us!
