This wood sculpture from Ghanaian artisan Ali Ibrahim depicts a man from the Mamprusi ethnic group of northern Ghana and Togo. The artisan carves the sculpture by hand from sese wood, and accents the cheeks with brass ridges to represent the tribal scarification that is typical to the Mamprusi people. The sculpture is further adorned with embossed aluminum plates and colorful paints.

“Conversation piece”

This is very tall and very nice! I love the symbolism of it and it is a great conversation piece. Everyone who enters my house wants to know more about my lovely bird. I will treasure it forever.
