African Fertility Doll Sculpture from Africa, "Fante Mother Dreams"
Carved from sese wood, this image by Winfred Korley is the Fante version of the Akua'ba fertility doll. Her unique hairstyle places her origin while at the same time suggesting her noble lineage. The Fante people from coastal Ghana are members of a larger culture and language group, the Akan. Small Akua'ba figures are carried in belts around their waists by women hoping to conceive, or, after childbirth, the statues are placed on shrines in appreciation to the local spirits.

I love this table, it was so easy to put together and it very nicely made and the red color is really bright and the black contrast is stunning. I am so glad I purchased it , thank you.

Beautiful piece of functional art. It is displayed in my entry hall, with African artifacts I have collected over the years, and never fails to elicit comments from people entering my home. I love that it doesnt really look too new, so it fits in with the theme of older items. Too, the size is perfect.

I was so excited when my package finally came in. More then what I expected. They are light weight yet sturdy. These statues are set up in my room. Thank you Novica! I will be shopping for more items in the near future:)

"Nice space saver"

The table is beautiful and in the spirit of the Adrinka. I love it. However, know this: 1) the table is very light, it easily slips on hard floors and could tip in the process 2) it is not carved out of a block as more ancient artifacts, but of three distinct pieces assembled by screws 3) it is not totally even, so if you place it on a hard floor, you ll have to rig it so it does not wobble

"Charming Wood Sculpture"

This is a very interesting wood sculpture from West Africa. Her dress is made from local fabric which is colorful and her matching earrings and necklace complete the outfit I love Novica's collection of wood statues as they are always authentic and very appealing. Rochelle New Jersey
