Exactly as advertised
I waited quite awhile for this rug. It was well worth the wait!!! The rug was exactly as advertised. Workmanship was perfection. Love the pattern! Ive ordered other items from Novica in the past and will definitely order again. The service and product are consistently first rate. A pleasure to shop with them.
This little rug makes me smile every morning
The colors are true to the picture and it is perfectly crafted. It is so soft that it puts a big smile on my face every morning when I get out of bed and again at night. I absolutely love it! Thank you!
Exactly What I Wanted
My girlfriend and I moved from New Jersey to Sedona 8 months ago. We are in the process of decorating in a manner that is southwestern without being cliche, without being cartoonish. We looked at Zapotec rugs in local stores. They were what we were looking for in the way of rugs. I was prepared to pay the high price they were asking, but we didnt find exactly what we wanted. Then I happened on Novica, had never heard of this site, and found exactly what I wanted, for much less money, and a lot more of that money going to the artisan. This piece by Gregorio Ruiz is simply superb!
Alfredo Ruiz Hand-woven Zapotec rugs
"I believe the art of weaving Zapotec rugs is unique. My inspiration comes from everything I see around me – the landscapes, nature, people and animals."
Popular Spring Zapotec
Zapotec wool rug (2x3.5), "Warm Sierra"
Fiery sunbursts on warm brown wool illuminate the rugged Oaxaca sierra. Its bold color and meticulously woven motifs make this accent rug a focal point in any setting. Working in hand-loomed wool, the Ruiz Bazan Family creates an heirloom piece.
Titled "Sierra Zapoteca" in Spanish.
Because each rug is individually woven on handlooms, measurements could vary as much as 5 cm (3.5 in).
Mexican Zapotec Rug (2.5x5), "Summer Sky"
Splendidly woven by hand, this radiant rug conveys the warmth of the Mexican sky. Mario Chávez works in virgin wool to created intricate geometric motifs. Their symmetry and beauty are astonishing.
Titled "Fiesta oaxaqueña" in Spanish.
Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 1 inch (3 cm) (1.2 in).
Grey Wool Rectangular Area Rug from Mexico (2.5x5), "Welcome Home"
From Bulmaro Mendoza of Mexico, this rectangular area rug is woven from wool on a handloom. The artisan dyes the wool using natural pigments for a truly artisanal touch. Flecks of amber create a subtle border on the light taupe rug, while tassels adorn the edges.
Hand Made Zapotec Gray Brown Wool Runner Rug (2.6x10), "Sierra Plains"
Soft grays and warm browns bring to mind the plains of the Oaxacan sierra. Alberto Ruiz and his wife craft this beautiful Zapotec rug on the pedal loom with wool yarn tinted with natural dyes.
Because each rug is individually woven, measurements could vary +/- 2 inches (5 cm).
