Peruvian craftsmen are known for their mastery of the traditional reverse painting on glass technique. Artisan Flora Polo specializes in this method and presents a stunning wall mirror that will be the focal point of any spot at home. She paints by hand floral, animal and leaf motifs inspired by Colonial art on the wood frame of this decorative accent with a palette of gold, red and black as primary colors.

The petite keepsake box is the creation of Felicita Espinoza of Surco, Peru, who began crafting 20 years ago with her husband and continues today with her daughter Milagros. The box is handcrafted from wood and glass. The motifs are painted on the reverse side of glass panes with a design inspired by the colonial period. The technique results in a wonderful clarity of color.

Natural scenes from the Costa Rican lands are captured through exquisite mosaics in the Herrera Perlaza Family Artisans' newest collection. Expressing love for nature, the team uses teak wood to create this charming decorative box, whose sturdy structure in a natural brown hue is enhanced by the glass artwork on the lid, depicting a hummingbird between leaves—a representation of magical realism.

For this design, I chose a symbol of peace in practically all cultures and countries — a dove with an olive branch." says Alejandra Paiz of this delicate and unique beaded suncatcher. "It represents hope and the desire for a new and peaceful beginning on Earth. It's associated with purity and spirituality.

"I say a prayer for peace," the Guatemalan artisan continues. "And I ask that we pray it together. 'No more wars. We want peace. May this peace dove reach all the homes of the world.'

"The principles of peace are love, justice and truth. Nothing is more valuable than peace, and it's the basic starting point for humanity to progress.

"I share sensations of peace with the beautiful crystals that reflect the sun's light to illuminate the heart and soul. We seek that which gives meaning to our lives. Peace. Let's be a source of light instead of darkness."
