Seated with legs crossed, a man with the head of a bird holds an artifact depicting a cross. This cross shape forms windows in several structures in the archaeological site of Palenque, in Southwestern Mexico, and a glyph referring to the birdman is found on stelae there. Working in ceramic, artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association create a polychrome replica of an image discovered in Tomb One. The original is on display in the museum at the site itself.

Colima Hound Hand Crafted Reddish Colima Dog Ceramic Pot from Mexico

This dog-themed pot is inspired by an archeological piece depicting a "Colima dog," a Mesoamerican domesticated animal that was shorter and thicker than the Aztec xoloescuincle dogs that still exist today. These short, pot-bellied effigies have been found in shaft tombs throughout the southern state of Colima, hence their name. The original piece can be found at Mexico's national Anthropology Museum. This ceramic version is crafted by the Angel Ceron Artisan Association.

According to ancient Nahual beliefs, when someone is born, they are accompanied by the spirit of an animal that protects and guides them. Inspired by this tradition, the Mexican artisans of the Aguilar Artisan Workshop create this impressive sculpture. Two Nahuales with the bodies of peacocks share a loving gaze. This creative sculpture is crafted from ceramic and painted entirely by hand. The tail feathers are connected via steel wire.
