Inspired by the colonial tradition of reverse-painted glass, Peruvian artisan Floral Polo proudly creates this sublime set of four coasters, each displaying the enchantment of the spring season. Crafted from wood in a golden shade, the glass panel protects a hand-painted floral pattern made in a colorful and lovely combination of pastel hues.

Serene sensations bloom alongside the flowers artisan Niyaz paints in this decorative box. Ancient techniques and love for art motivate Niyaz to craft the piece from papier mache and kail wood, transforming the surface into a smooth canvas that now displays a spring-inspired mandala pattern in pastel blue and yellow hues. Inside, a faux velvet lining evokes regality.

"I represent the Holy Family – Mary, Joseph and Jesus – in the hands of God that take care of us and support us. His hands are always there to lift us up in good times and bad," Javier Ramírez says. He sculpts the beautiful image of cedar wood and paints it by hand. Applications of bronze leaf add a golden shine.

Many cultures believe that doves are good omens, symbols of peace, notes the artist. Inspired by the beauty and tenderness of these birds, Theus depicts three rosy doves in his expressionist style. "This is a visual message in which I show the gentle birds in flight," The Anden artist says. "They delight us with their dynamic harmony. This painting was created to share a message of unity, love and collectivity."

"I like to show our ancestors' traditions through my art, so that our children realize how different is their life compared to my generation, and older," confides Filiberto Chali. Painting with oils, he tells the story of how a young woman is stolen from her parents' home by her boyfriend and his friends. The only witness to the event is a man with a couple of bottles, perhaps not the most reliable of witnesses.

Kidnapping brides used to be a fairly common practice in San Juan Comalapa, Chali's hometown. The reason for taking her could be anything, from her being underage, her parents not allowing the union, or her not wanting to marry the groom. By kidnapping her, the parents were ultimately obliged to allow their union lest she be deemed unchaste by everyone else. Today the custom continues, but only when there is consent, and then the festivities ensue.
