Peacocks, sparrows and cranes agree to live in peace and order, protected by their own solidarity and sheltered by the vines of nature against the chaos of the outer world. Portraying a harmonious scene of peace, this sculpture brings together social birds and twisting vines symbolically, aiding each other for mutual benefit.
Nature acts as the original source and the protector of life and peace, in which biodiversity and ecosystems can arrive at harmonious equilibrium. Indian artisan Chander Kant explains that he poses this representation of the need for peace on Earth to inspire others to treat all with respect and compassion. The birds feel blissful, safe and peaceful within the floral and leafy vines.
Kant designs this amazing sculpture to highlight the peace, love and unity found in nature. Crafted from a single piece of kadam wood, the exquisite sculpture is intricately carved by hand with meticulous detailing over a period of ten days -- a work of art.

Preserving Traditions
Chander's family members have been carvers for generations. He grew up watching his father, uncle and other relatives carve but it is his grandfather who taught him. His family has a small workshop that produces wood jewelry and other carvings using chisels and traditional hand tools. Chander regularly conducts workshops and other educational training sessions for thousands of artisans from all over India. He is dedicated to preserving wood carving and other traditional Indian arts. He is a prominently recognized artisan and has received numerous awards.
