Signed Expressionist Painting of a Nude Angel from Brazil, "Wisdom"

Her back to the viewer, a beautiful angel is depicted nude as she emerges from the pages of a story book. Brazilian artist Simone Araújo hopes to convey "the unlimited and eternal divine wisdom through the image of female purity," as the subject emerges from the book with wings that allow her to fly with "imagination and knowledge." Blending surrealism and expressionism, the composition is completed with an abstract purple background.
