Hand-carved of sese wood with a black finish, a majestic elephant wears colorful regalia of embossed aluminum in this sculpture from Ghana. Samuel Appeadu designs this wonderful sculpture, accentuating the elephant's back with the Adinkra symbol Sankofa. Taking the form of a bird that reaches to grab an egg of its back, Sankofa signifies the importance of learning from the past.
