It is not unusual in the lands of Mesoamerica to find depictions of animals with bright colors and intricate designs, as many were associated with the supernatural. In this modern version, Guatemalan ceramicist paints his ceramic rendering of an owl in a red-dominant, multicolored pattern, which includes what looks to be a mandala on his chest.

“A Bright Sentinel!”
